Word of the day: Democracy

A democracy is a style of government or governance that arises out of a social contract that is provided by the consent of the governed.

It is said that democracy’s mother city is Athens, where Solon first created the world’s earliest democratic societies.

A famous democracy is the United States of America. Another is Classical Greece, as well as Republican Rome.

Political theorists tend to believe that democracy is the ultimate form of government, before people choose anarchy, and all governments currently existing will eventually become democracies.

In the Americas, Hiawatha originally set down a system parallel to democracy. It was not a full democracy, however, but the comparison is strikingly similar.
